sometimes it's just not in the cards...

I set out this morning, did some work for an architect... about 2 hours and was so proud of myself for getting it done early. Then I decided to take on this Inspirational #17 Challenge and I had high hopes, very high hopes for how it was going to turn out but it didn't, not at all, not even near what I thougth this was going to look like... how disappointing.

Canoe Trip on the Buffalo River

I followed my scrappy friend Michele over to S.W.A.T. to take Drill#6... what a great layout for all these canoe trip photos I have from my big boy's trip a couple of years ago!

Dew Drops in Blue & Brown
For the Base Cardstock, I used CloseToMyHeart Bamboo which is a textured cardstock. Printed & Light Blue Papers are from Fancy Pants Be You in 12x12. Leaf printed Acetate is from Making Memoires Slice for the CD pocket with decorative brads from Basic Grey holding the pocket in place. I used a scattering of Dew Drops in Blue & Brown around both pages along with Green Rain Drops from Cloud 9 Design. Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink was applied to all edges.  Brown cardstock is Cocoa from CloseToMyHeart.

Leaf printed Acetate from Making Memoires Slice

I was SO HAPPY to find a sketch to use all these photos at once... these are pages 6 & 7 of this trip & frankly, I'm kinda tired of scrapping them!  ack, am I a bad mom?  LOL

GoodBye Our Creative Corner

Well, it's that time... time to say GoodBye to a fabulous group of ladies over at Our Creative Corner.  This group has so much talent of a very wide variety, it's been intimidating at times seeing their wonderful work.  We were asked to share our favorite projects from our time on the Design Team but I had such a hard time selecting just ONE... so I went ahead & chose my top five favorite of mine over my time of being on the team.  Here they are in order they were created, please let me know which of these is your favorite!

This sweetie is a digi!  I created this card July 2012, the original link is HERE if you'd like to check it out.

This big dragonfly was made from plastic for a recycle project.  I posted it in August 2012, you can check out the details HERE.

This project evolved and kept changing as I added (and removed a few) items but I do love how it turned out. If you want to know what supplies/techniques I used, HERE is where you can get that information.

January 2013, my smallest project during my time on the Design Team for Our Creative Corner was this ATC (Artist Trading Card).  I have so many digis that I print off at the wrong size but I keep them, almost all of them, just in case I find just the right project for them.  HERE is where you can get the details for her.

and finally, my most current of the favorites that I created February 2013 using the first and only sketch that I've ever made.  If you'd like to see, and possibly use the sketch, please go HERE.  Remember to leave me a linky in the comments if you do use it so I can check out your work!

THANK YOU so much for taking an interest in my work & THANK YOU to my fellow members of the Our Creative Corner Design Team, current & past, for putting up with me :-)  Blessings & Love to you all!

Always & Forever

I really liked this sketch from Annabelle Stamps Blog, #161 and wanted to do something a little different with it. I have had this background I'd sprayed with Tim Holtz Color Wash for over 6 months, just hanging there on the wall waiting for me to use it... turns out I had enough for two cards!

HERE is where you find these.  Let her know ScrapAddictsAttic or JeepMama or just plain ole Paula sent you....

These two I coated with Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint in Rock Candy, let it dry then hit it with Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Broken China then lightly with Chipped Sapphire, last I topped them with Liquid Pearls in Ivy Green

This set I coated with Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint in Antique Linen, let it dry then hit it pretty heavy with Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Broken China, and finally topped them off with Liquid Pearls in Dark Chocolate.

Kindred Spirit Card

Here's a little tutorial I did to create this card step-by-step for Crop Chocolate's weekly contest! No fancy techniques included in this one

Fly

Now is the time... yes, never hesitate to spread your wing & fly!  This week I will not be available on Saturday so I decided to combine two challenge I never get to combine.... Our Creative Corner (my DT post) along with Unity Stamp Company's Friends with Flair!

Lori is our challenge coordinator this week for Our Creative Corner, she has an inspiration photo for us along with the added challenge of "modern-inspired" which she thinks of as the opposite of vintage/distress.  Well, I did the best I could drawing heavily on the colors in the photo along with the bed frame that I repeated in my card frame.  I really think it works :-)

I didn't use hardly any printed paper on this design as it all seemed too fussy for the challenge, however I did ink the background using a Tim Holtz Inking tool with CloseToMyHeart ink ink Lagoon, I repeated this color for the cloud stamps.

All Stamps - Unity Stamp Co.'s KOTM Love in an Instant (do I use this set too much?  probably)

Inks - Blue... CTMH Lagoon; Red... CTMH Cranberry, Brown... Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy

Kraft Paper - Canvas Corp

I did smear the Brushed Corduroy down the face of my "frame" to give it a wood look

Stripe Paper - MyMind'sEye Lush in Yellow

Bling - CTMH Glitz Stardust

Thinking of You

yeh, well, I'm thinking I don't like how my card turned out.... it's not horrible but just kinda.... hummmm, so take a look & see for youself

winner time!

a while back & posted some Chevy Chevelle cards & said I'd have a random drawing if people would just tell me which color they like the best.... I was supposed to draw on March 24, my son's birthday but well, life got in the way with taking my niece back to Joplin and the snow so here I am just now remembering!

Above is my "little" man all those years ago & to the right is him just after the New Year this year, from playing in a laundry basket filled with toys to pointing out his TaeKwonDo First Degree Black belt that he is just about to earn (April 15 is not only tax day but belt testing day)

eek... so my winner is....
