Unscripted Sketches #90

my Grandpa Jones, aka Harold or Uncle Bud was a farmer for most of my life... it's really the only memories I have of him other than when he was old & dying since he couldn't farm any more, but before being a farmer he was in the military.
In the larger picture he is walking his Aunt Leila down the aisle at his daughter (my Aunt) Sarah's wedding. Auntie was the matriarch of our family, so full of love & support for all of us

I cut the church using my Cricut E with the Gypsy & Heritage Cartridge, the put mulberry paper for stained glass windows. White wire edged ribbon just from Hobby Lobby. All paper, cardstock & ink from CTMH.

Picture Perfect Creations.... Emboss!

I know a few of you are thinking... I've seen this ATC before, haven't I? and the answer is a very embarrassed "yes" with my head hung in shame. You see, this weekend one of my bff's drove down fro Missouri to craft with me, I'd call it scrapping normally but we did everything except scrap! So basically, I'm human & ran out of time. This is the first ATC I made just over a week ago, I love how it turned out so if Megs at PPC is ok with me recycling my creations... here it is:

As you can tell, the P (from Technique Tuesday, pretty isn't it?) has been embossed using Zing powders.

The Jeep is from a Summer cartridge cut out using my Cricut Expression and my Gypsy. The trees are from various other cartridges. The leaves are Dew Drops in a light green (love them!) and the ribbon I ordered from somewhere on the internet. The flower ribbon I got in a prize package & the background paper is one of my all-time favorites from CTMH called Emporium

on a Roll

this weekend! 4 Craft Chicks weekly challenge is Travel, so I combined it with Twisted Cards Sketch #41 with a twist of Ribbon.

Here's my creation:
It's a Vintage Digi that I'm going to use for my dad, Jim's birthday. Twisted Cards said Ribbon was the twist... I've had this leather "ribbon" for a couple of years & always want to use it but it's hard to work into most of the cards I make... I love it with this image. Image was colored with my one set of Copic markers.
The MM Slice Metallic paper is perfect for chrome with the embossing folder I have. I distressed the edges of Metallic black paper for the background.
The finishing touch.. a compass brad I got from Oriental Trading Post!

Flower Tutorial

What?! Paula doing a flower tutorial? Yes, that's right... I would have done a video for you but 1. I'm still in my jammies & 2. me+needle=bad words... you're welcome ;-) Now on with the "program"

The supplies: 2 different ribbons, for my flower ribbon I used 8" of CTMH 3/8" ribbon and 2" of a very different one from Hobby Lobby which is labeled 3/8" but really doesn't it look about half the width of the CTMH stuff? hummm... you'll also need a needle & some matching thread
starting at one end of your wider & longer ribbon, zigzag your threaded needle (with a knot in the end) thru
Leave about a 3" tail, go ahead & cinch it up pretty tight & tie a knot in the ribbon (I found it make it easier for me because if I get interrupted or drop it then it doesn't all come undone)
Proceed zigzagging as before until you reach the end of the ribbon, cinch & knot but don't cut your thread. Fold the shorter & narrower ribbon in half. Starting at cut end, zigzag your thread thru
should look something like this, then you will push the needle & thread back down the center where you just came from. Tie off & cut the thread.
Here are the triplets I made this morning
and in profile (really I just like this picture so I HAD to include it)
I hope my tutorial has helped you make your own little flower, I think they are just adorable & the perfect size for oh say an ATC!

The finished product ends up being about 1" around and about 3/4" tall
