OWH 117

now this sketch I REALLY REALLY like!  but I had a hard time finding a stamp that I wanted to use on it so I turned to my CTMH stash o'stamps & found this one, a part of the Pair a Phrase set.

The Sketch is from Stars & Stamps, the challenge blog from Operation Write Home

I also dug out my VERY old snowflake punch from Creative Memories

OWH 119

so I liked this sketch but I didn't really like my card until I added the birds along the top... they just added that little something that was needed, kinda a peaceful tough

OWH 122

one of my favorite EVER stamps from Unity... Jeep!  of course, LOL as I'm a Wrangler Girl although these days she sits in the garage while I drive the Acrua TL instead but in my defense the Jeep needs a bit of work before I pass her down to my 14 yo son but I still take her for a spin every week or two just to keep the gears from getting gunky.

One of my favorite causes... Operation Write Home, working my way backwards thru the sketch & I'm down to #122 from Stars & Stamps!

I mixed the Unity stamps with CTMH papers from several years ago & distressed them with Tim Holtz Distressing Ink in  Forest Moss.  I know it's weird how the trees are sideways to the Jeep image but that's just the way it ended up because they are printed weird

OWH 135 Plus More

Operation Write Home's Blog Stars and Stamps has a new sketch... #135 that I combined with this freebie stamp I received from Stamper's Best yesterday... I LOVE IT!  My grandpa's were farmers, both sides of the family so tractors are close to my heart. The gear stamps are from Unity & the papers are CTMH.

Below these were black & white card bases I cut apart, who needs flowers on the backs of their cards? lol so I colored them up, the fall colors are Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze & the purple is Smooch.  Ribbon is from Hobby Lobby

Recycle & Make it Green

A challenge after my own heart!  I LOVE recycling... reducing... reusing, although I'm not very good at the reducing part of the equation!  Our Creative Corner's newest challenge comes from Kim Price to create something with an item salvaged & remade into something wonderful at the same time using the color green

so most by now know that I'm on a mission to make a BUNCH of cards for Operation Write Home & in that process I am utilizing a lot of their sketches over on Stars & Stamps, this is Sketch#116

GO make something & play along with BOTH!

OWH 123

oh I'm so happy with how this one turned out!

I used Stars & Stamps Sketch #123 with this Unity Itty Bitty that my sweet friend DeeDee sent to me recently!

it's hard to see the details on the kite but behind the brown parts I used liquid glass from CTMH to make the kite rigid, then added these three short strands of twine for the tail

shine shine shine

still working on Operation Write Home cards but for this one I combined two different challenges... one is from Unity Stamp Co to use Stars and the other is a sketch from Chick Challenges with Ippity, of course will all Unity/Ippity challenge you need to use their stamps... mine is from the April 2012 KOTM called Follow Your Own

OWH 124

This is a brand new stamp for me from Unity and like the others from this line, I'm in love with it!  they are just adorable.  I did have to modify the sketch just a little bit to make it work for me but not a whole lot, sketch #124 from Star & Stamps, Operation Write Home's blog

OWH 125

Sketch #125 from Stars & Stamps for Operation Write Home... this one I did a bit differently... all bright colors, kinda had a card from a soldier dad to one of his kiddos back home in mind when I was making it... to cheer them up but still say "I Miss You"

OWH 126

You can't see it, but I'm doing cartwheels!  why? because I got NEW STAMPS today from Stamper's Best, the people who provide the Operation Write Home stamps :-)  I decided they needed a little extra support while I was ordering my OWH stamps and got a few extras

also, I love old cars... I also love old houses... neither of which I have

OWH 127

yep, I started the morning out by making another Operation Write Home card!  I had stamped off several of this image to use and finally got a sketch that works with it.  You can find the sketch at Stars & Stamps

OWH 128

ok ok I'm a big fat liar... I just finished this one & I'm really glad I did!  I love these stamps from Unity but don't really get many chances to use them in this male fill house I live in.  Stars & Stamps sketch worked out perfectly for me to use all three at one time!

OWH 129

this is the last one I made prior to just now... if you see another one tonight, well I'll be surprised yet pleased with myself... just don't hold your breath LOL

Sketch #129 from Stars & Stamps

for this one, I did a bit of embossing, both the swirls & dots are embossed, then afterwards I hit the ridges on the swirls with black ink & the ridges on the dots with the distressing tool to remove the black paper... very textured card

OWH 130

another sketch from Stars & Stamps, the Operation Write Home Blog

for this one I used some CTMH scallop-cut frame (because I'll never use it as a frame!) and a Creative Memories punch for the hearts... I like the mix

OWH 131

with this one I took a couple of liberties... oh say converting the top & bottom bands into ribbons fro the Stars & Stamps Sketch but I think it's just beautiful, of course this is one of my favorite stamps.  Next time I'll do better on the hair but I still like how it turned out

OWH 132

see now I would put these all in one post but I really want to link each one up to the OWH Blog Stars & Stamps, so a bit of patience with me this evening as I take over your newsfeed... sorry about that.  I promise I don't normally do this

I'm really happy with this one... soft & sweet

OWH 133

I'm so happy with the progress I'm making, here's another....

this isn't my favorite ever but it is bright & cheery

OWH 134

a new sketch was posted today over on Stars & Stamps for Operation Write Home

this card is just for a bit of silliness, maybe bring a smile to a solider's face and whoever he or she sends it to

OWH again

I've started back up with making card for Operation Write Home.  A couple of years ago I sent in 100 cards but this time I don't have a number goal, just a self-imposed time limit... considering it's football season, I'm not sure I can come near to making 100 but I'm sure gonna give it my all!

Operation Write Home does have a blog with challenges... y'all know how much I love my challenges!  So I'll be backtracking my way thru them to get these cards done.  The first challenge I found over there is to use Kraft & color, I choose fall colors to coordinate with the kraft and it's helping to put me in a cooler state of mind instead of the blistering heat of the summer

Let me know if you'd like to join in or if you already participate!  The more the merrier our men & women in uniform and their loved ones can communicate
