OWH-VCMP Texture Omit

so after being issued Challenge #3 of the Virtual Card Making Party from Operation Write Home, I still don't get how to do this technique but I had an embossing folder that has a very large blank area on it so I'm guessing that counts for the embossing impaired... right?
