Picture Perfect Creations Color Combo this week threw me for a loop again, why am I struggling so? I think my biggest problem.... I don't use SU! colors but CTMH and CTMH doesn't have a color similar to Concord Grape or Crumb Cake, but thankfully my friend/DT sister, Lori, had send me samples of each SU! color so I use a little bit of this week's 4 colors to make this creation:

Challenges From The Attic #5 Think Pink

my other blog is Challenges From The Attic where I issue a weekly challenge with a monthly prize. For my first prize, Mr. Linky & I didn't quite see eye to eye on the cutoff time so I had two people, Wendy (Reprieve) & Tamie (Paper Infusions and More... ) who didn't actually get their cards posted... girls as soon as I get a button make, it's yours... it may just be a picture of my Jeep... everyone else, please go give them the kuddos they deserve for their pretty cards! Anywho, back to the business at hand. This week it's Think Pink in honor of my friend Dana who is just beginning her battle:
A few months ago I met Mel on scrapbook.com since we're both from Arkansas, we chatted about scrapping together & made a play date for ourselves. Melody brought along her sister Dana. At first sight I thought, this lady scraps?! No way... she isn't plump, she's got some of the longest legs you've ever seen... just didn't fit what I had in my head as "one of us". Let the bonding begin! We laughed, joked, got a little teary-eyed and became a little like sisters that day. Dana very recently was diagnosed and has begun going thur her options and making decisions. Her wonderful (real) sister, Melody, is organizing a Walk for Dana benefit on November 20 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. I'm trying to help put together a silent auction item and maybe a few other things, plus work for them that day doing whatever they need me to do... Music to my Ears

I know you've seen this layout before.... a couple of times, but I have news!
Some of you know that my oldest son who is 12 has been invited with 39 of his choir-mates to sing at Carnagie Hall in NYC in Feb. 2011. While this is a great opportunity for these kids, the trip is very expensive... airplanes, hotels, food. The University of Arkansas has agreed with helping to pay $22,000 to help offset the cost to parents which leaves each child & chaperone with a balance of $1,500 that we have to pay monthly installments on. Good News, the UofA is 1/4 way there already! My husband decided that he should be a chaperone on this trip so we have double the cost coming in at $3,000 that covers the basics.

My family has been wonderful making donations to us and we had our deposit paid for us by two sets of Grandparents... thank God we have four sets! If any of you would like to help, one of Van's Grandma's is working with a Jordan Essentials Consultant, Marti Gibson, who is willing to give us her entire profit. Here's how to shop: go to Jordan Essentials, Marti Gibson by clicking HERE, then click on SHOP NOW at the top left corner by Home, the select Jan Achey's SHOP NOW, you will go to another screen to make sure that is the person you want and click on SHOP NOW under Jan's name and address. The proceeds to toward Van & Ron's trip. The products will be shipped directly to you!

I will keep you posted on our progress. Also we will have other fundraising ideas to try... next month we will be picking up, bagging & selling pecans in our town. Thank you so much for helping my son attend this wonderful learning opportunity!

Pumpkins!

A friend at Crop Chocolate made the cutest pumpkins ever, of course I had to give them a try as well. She posted this link to Scrapbook.com as her source for the instructions.
Here are my creations:
The little pumpkin followed the instruction to the letter which makes a pretty small pumpkin but I wanted something for the dining table for the season. The large one is using full 12" strips (make sure it's printed on BOTH sides) and I added 6 extra 1" strips of shimmer cardstock to make it fuller. I love they turned out!
Some details for you:
Little Dude:
Products Used: Small Pumpkin - printed paper, Idk (I don't know) it was just in my stash with no label :-(... Large Pumpkin - printed paper, Echo Park Happy Halloween Magic Stripes, Cricut using Gypsy Wanderings cartridge; cardstock-CTMH Topiary.
